Who were your favourite pre 60′s comedy actors and actresses?

Many of my favourite films are from this period and most continue to be repeated and, hopefully will be seen long into the future. From the silent movies through the advent of ‘Talkies’ to the late 50′s, comedy on screen developed tremendously.

From the original grainy black and white we had the development of colour. From visual gags we had the addition of sound gags and endless witty dialogue. We also had the advent of the musical comedy, so many changes and difficult to compare actors from different eras.
