The Top 10 Blog Interview With…..@BullsandBeavers

I am delighted to welcome Chris Burget as this weeks guest in the Interview Series.

Chris’s great passion is outdoor sports and pursuits and I highly recommend a visit to his excellent Bulls and Beavers where you will find loads of information, advice and resources about hunting, fishing and shooting. Chris also Tweets a lot about his passion and a great deal more and you can connect with him on Twitter @BullsandBeavers by clicking on the image below.

If you were stranded on a desert island and were allowed one luxury item what would it be and why?

My new MacBook Pro with wireless connection. With my laptop, I would be able to watch sports, download music, stay informed, Skype with family, make my own Cast Away movie with iMovie, keep up on Twitter and Facebook.

Do you have any phobias?

I am not afraid of many things except heights. I have climbed mountains and traveled all over the world and there have been several times that I found myself in places that made me pretty uncomfortable when looking down at the ground from thousands of feet off.

Who inspires you and why?

Last year, I had the opportunity to spend time with a few wounded vets that came to Idaho with the Sun Valley Adaptive Sports Program. These vets were all blind with some pretty serious injuries. Here they learned how to ski, fish and get outdoors. These are true heroes! Talk about inspiration and motivation. We all have some challenges to deal with in our lives and when you see how these young men deal with their challenges it is truly inspirational.

Which animal would you most like to be and why?

Think I would be a Grizzly bear living in Yellowstone. This iconic symbol of the American West is at the top of the food chain. A Grizzly living in Yellowstone would be in one of my favorite places on earth and would have the power, courage and wisdom to defend his family. Grizzlies are a keystone species and an endangered species in the US.

What is the one thing in life that irritates you the most and why?

Rude people! I am a pretty easy going, it takes a lot to get me irritated, but throw in some rude people and I don’t have a lot of patience. Life is to short to be rude and I choose to be around people with a positive attitude. “Tweet People the Way you Want to be Tweeted!

If you could have a superpower what would it be and why?

That is easy. After graduating from college, I spent the next seven years as Guest Services Director/ Trainer at world famous Cal-A-Vie spa. Oprah, spent a couple weeks there and nicknamed me superman after hiking and training with her. I would have superman’s powers and I would put and end to all the violence we see around the world, stopping crime and wars.

What do you think you will be doing in 10 years time?

Ten years from now, I will be retired and traveling the world when I am not at my cabin in Idaho. I want to be doing everything I can to get the next generation of our youth involved in the outdoors, hunting, fishing, shooting, riding horses, ATV’s and camping. There is no greater pleasure I get than watching a young kids reaction to his first encounter with a bull elk or seeing their big smiles when they get on a horse for the first time.

What is your favourite guilty pleasure?

I love to eat and find it hard to turn down dessert. Love chocolate and especially carrot cake.

You are holding a dinner party and you can invite 3 people (living or historical), who would you invite and why?

Teddy Roosevelt, Ronald Reagan and Abraham Lincoln.

These three former US president’s, have made not only America a better place to live but the whole world. From freeing the slaves, protecting our wildlife and creating national parks to tearing down the wall and ending the cold war.

Can you tell us one thing about yourself which would surprise people who know you?

Most of my friends wouldn’t know that my Great Grandfather Charlie Shea, built the foundation and abutments for the Golden Gate Bridge. He was also the general partner of the six companies that built the Hoover dam.
