The Top 10 Blog Interview With…..@lorimcneeartist
The subject of this week’s interview is a super Twitter person to connect with, namely Lori McNee, previously a guest with her excellent Top 10 Ways to Improve Your Twitter Image and Following
Lori is an internationally recognized professional artist who specializes in still life and landscape oil paintings. Lori shares valuable fine art tips, art business tips and social media advice on her Fine Art Tips blog. Currently, Lori ranks as one of the Top 100 Most Powerful Women on Twitter & was named a TwitterPowerhouse by The Huffington Post.
If you were stranded on a desert island and were allowed one luxury item what would it be and why?
My first thought is to outsmart the question and say that I’d like to have my very own, fully loaded, Gulfstream G5 Jet! Then, I could fly off the island and bring friends back and forth and turn my desert island into a resort…
But, that is probably cheating, so I would have to say that I would want my luxury item to be a ‘desalination plant’ so that I would have plenty of fresh water! Then, after I am rescued, I could start my own bottled water company.
Do you have any phobias?
Although I am an avid alpine skier, I don’t love heights. But, I don’t let that fear stop me from having fun. However, I have to admit that I really don’t like it when the chairlift stops and just hangs there….wait, wait, waiting. If I can pull the bar down that feels great…or a heated gondola is even better!
Who inspires you and why?
Being an artist, I am inspired by much everyday, so this is a tough question. Of course, I am inspired by my hard working, ethical and loving parents, but that’s not what you want to hear…
I seem to be drawn to inspirational stories of people and even animals who overcome adversity in their lives. People like Nelson Mandela, Helen Keller, Anne Frank and even the famous racehorse, Seabiscuit, inspire me to do and be my best.
Which animal would you most like to be and why?
I would like to fly like an eagle, but it is lonely at the top. So, I think I would like to be a wolf…far away from any wolf hunters, that is. Wolves are adaptable and at the top of the food chain, they are highly intelligent and are loyal to their families.
What is the one thing in life that irritates you the most and why?
Dishonesty. I am a loyal and trusting person and I expect the same in return.
If you could have a superpower what would it be and why?
Do you remember the American situation comedy, Bewitched? It was about a nice ‘witch’ with magical powers…it was my favorite 60-70’s TV show when I was a little girl. Having powers like ‘bewitch’ would allow me to do virtually anything fly, teleport, go back or forward in time, you name it. This would be the ultimate in superpowers.
What do you think you will be doing in 10 years time?
Time sure flies and 10 years isn’t that far away. I will still be hiking with my dogs, snow skiing and creating my art and sharing it with others.
It would be nice to split my time in the mountains with some time at the beach or desert in 10 years…oh, and taking some time each year to discover our amazing world and to enjoy my grown kids….and maybe by then, I will have to pre-schedule my tweets – haha.
What is your favourite guilty pleasure?
Chocolate. And hot fudge over vanilla ice cream. I was so happy when I found out that dark chocolate is good for us – lol!
Which historical character would you most like to meet and why?
Another tough question, especially since I am a history buff. But, being true to the artist that I am, I will have to go with the original Renaissance man, Leonardo da Vinci. Considered to be one of the greatest painters and perhaps the most diversely talented persons to have ever lived. He was superhuman.
Plus, it would be fun to visit him at his studio in Florence, Italy…and watch him paint and unlock the mysteries of The Mona Lisa.
Can you tell us one thing about yourself which would surprise people who know you?
People that know me are surprised at my social media success! They can’t believe that I can juggle a painting, blogging AND a social media career while balancing being a single mom.
