The Top 10 Blog Interview with….. @pramitjnathan
It’s great to be back with another in my Interview series after a short break and I am delighted to be able to welcome as my guest this week Pramit J Nathan.
Pramit, marketing consultant, author, speaker and trainer is a fun guy to follow on Twitter both at @pramitjnathan and at his ‘alter ego’ @IamPramit. You can find out more about Pramit at his Blog and you can also connect with him on Facebook.
If you were stranded on a desert island and were allowed one luxury item what would it be and why?
I love to sleep! As a kid I could sleep anytime and anyplace, even standing!! But over time I have got used to a certain degree of comfort. So without a doubt the luxury item I choose is my pillow set comprising the twins – Ana and Bana. With them alongside I would never feel lonely, and their special powers will transport me to a fantastic dream world every night!
Do you have any phobias?
Actually, I am a man of many phobias. In fact, I even have a phobia of adding any more to the big list. But my biggest phobia which is also a source of amusement to my close friends and family is my fear of disease – pathophobia. The slightest of symptoms and I am on Google to know all the possible diseases it could indicate.
I guess the gigabytes of medical data makes me half a doctor! For what it is worth though, I would advice all those reading this interview to treat your body as a temple and take very good care of it – health is the greatest wealth.
Who inspires you and why?
Gandhi. We have been conditioned as kids to think of super heroes as heavily muscled hulks in tight suits but since I developed the vision to see the world as it is, I realized that the biggest of all superheroes was a frail, diminutive man dressed in a loin cloth who mobilized vastly impoverished and illiterate masses, and won India her independence through non-violence.
And most importantly he did this by sacrificing a very comfortable life he could have led as a lawyer abroad. It is very easy to adopt violence to pursue your cause but true strength lies in protesting peacefully against an all powerful oppressor. I could go on and on but simply said, to me, Gandhi is the greatest man who ever lived, and none less than Einstein also believed so.
Which animal would you most like to be and why?
The Mighty Ant. The Asian weaver ants can carry upto 100 times their body weight! Read the article – “10 Reasons to Respect the Ant“
Despite their super strength ants are mostly peaceful and selfless creatures, who believe in mutual respect, teamwork and loyalty, something we human beings really need to learn.
What is the one thing in life that irritates you the most and why?
I try not to get irritated. Peace of mind is very important to me and I preserve it by accepting people, things or situations as they are if I cannot change them. I believe in Wayne Dyer’s quote – “Everything is perfect about the world, including your desire to change it.” In fact, the only time I feel anything close to irritation is when I forget the above and let something disturb me.
What is your favourite guilty pleasure?
Taking a nap during the day. Yep, I am a Sleeper! <LOL>
If you could have a superpower what would it be and why?
I have dreamt about this a lot. My superpower of choice is the ability to reach any place I want to in an instant. I do enjoy the travel aspect of visiting places too, especially when I am with friends and family, but I love the idea of going wherever I want to whenever I desire. I was really fascinated when I saw this superpower in action in the movie – Jumper.
What do you think you will be doing in 10 years time?
I see myself authoring and speaking / teaching, and travelling the World while doing so. Wish scientists could expedite the invention of teleportation!
You are holding a dinner party and you can invite 3 people (living or historical), who would you invite and why?
For the past few years I find myself inclined towards spirituality, and because I love the quotes of these spiritual masters, I would invite Rumi, Buddha and Gandhi.
Can you tell us one thing about yourself which would surprise people who know you?
I gave up smoking, beer & other beverages, non-vegetarian & junk food and sweets all at one go and stayed away for almost four years, till recently. What started of with my phobia later became a need to test my willpower eventually leading to self-discovery.
I regularly say this to my training participants if there is something that you think you should do but are procrastinating, decide to do it NOW. You will emerge a stronger and better person by doing so.
