The Top 10 Blog Interview With….. @TheTop10Blog!

Let me introduce you to this weeks Interview victim, it’s Tony Hastings (that’s me for those of you who haven’t been paying attention).

I know what you are thinking, it’s either a) He’s run out of people to ask or b) How vain is this man to interview himself?

It’s neither I can assure you, allow me to explain. I was looking at the questions that I send to my interviewees and it struck me that it’s actually quite hard to come up with your answers, so how unfair is it of me to ask others to do what I am not prepared to do myself?

So here we go, I usually do a nice introduction extolling the qualities of the victim and adding a link to their blog but will skip that otherwise you might end up going round in circles.

If you were stranded on a desert island and were allowed one luxury item what would it be and why?

I think I would quite like to be stranded for a limited time, I first thought that a convenience store would be a good luxury but then I would be denied the excitement of foraging for my food.

So it has to be a telescope, not to look for passing ships but a proper astronomical telescope so that I could study the sky. I live in an urban area and I am aware that I never get the chance to see the night sky in all its glory so what a wonderful opportunity to study the Universe.

Do you have any phobias?

Needles, the syringe type, I have a history of fainting and once passed out when I was with my daughter when she was giving a blood sample, how embarrassing was that? I may be getting better though, I recently had to administer twice daily insulin injections to our diabetic dog, something I was very proud of (It was a very small needle mind).

Who inspires you and why?

Ordinary people who just get quietly on with their lives despite sometimes having terrible challenges to overcome.

Which animal would you most like to be and why?

I have realised that this is really quite a hard question. So what is my conclusion? A Giant Panda I think. My reasons? Well I would like to look that cute I suppose but the lifestyle looks quite cool, sitting around in the forest munching bamboo all day. People seem to be encouraging them to mate all the time, I could cope with that!

Such a shame they are endangered and credit to WWF and others for the work they do to save them.

What is the one thing in life that irritates you the most and why?

Unlike the people who inspire, the people who irritate are those who make a lot of noise about themselves despite really having very little to complain about in their lives.

If you could have a superpower what would it be and why?

I would like to be able to travel through time. I would need to have unlimited travel to the past so that I could be present at great events or meet wonderful historical characters. I would only however require one trip to the future, I don’t want to know what the future holds but would book one trip to find out what next weeks winning lottery numbers were going to be.

What do you think you will be doing in 10 years time?

Living a life of luxury off my lottery winnings.

What is your favourite guilty pleasure?

Like many people that revolves around food and drink (the ones I can tell you about anyway!). A bottle of red wine, a bacon butty and a bar of chocolate, such bliss. Why guilty? All that alcohol, fat and cholesterol that I have been told not to consume.

You are holding a dinner party and can invite 3 people living or dead, who would you invite and why?

Sir Bobby Robson, maybe not so well known to many of you but a wonderful man form my own part of the world. Steeped in football and a highly successful player and manager, Sir Bob was a wonderful man who fought cancer on many occasions and who left a legacy to help other sufferers.

Leonardo Da Vinci, not just for the art but for the science and the all the rest that he achieved, what a wonderful brain to pick.

Mary Seacole, I think Mary would have a great tale to tell having overcome racial and gender prejudice to carve out a place for herself in history.

Can you tell us one thing about yourself that would surprise people who know you?

When I was a small child I had a feather come out of my head! I had a small bump that appeared and when I went to the Doc’s he pulled out a feather, pointed end first.

There was never any explanation as to how this could have happened, are there more in there.  I have been called feather brained before but maybe people never realised how close to the truth they were.

Many thanks Tony – Whoops sorry, forgot again, that’s me! So it’s a big thank you to you for taking the time to read all the way down to here.

I do hope you will share if you like what I do and subscribe, using the buttons at the top of the page, if you would like to see more.

Love it what fun and great questions, Phobias mine is spiders, well I should say was as one day I went to a butterfly park, and as I walked through the door this guy who had 6/8 kids around him rushed up to me and said hold your hand out. I did as I was told and the next thing I knew , I had a tarantula on my hand!!! I didn’t know what to do but if I screamed I knew these little kids would freak out, and the tarantula would bite me and I would die on the spot. So I never moved a muscle and somehow managed to plaster an immitation smile mask on my face. Not scared of any spiders now though.

Sorry that did go on and I really just wanted to say I enjoyed reading your post.

    • Hi Chrissie,Many thanks for taking the time to leave your comment, I understand all about spiders, I am ok with them but my wife has a phobia. She went as far as throwing a cup of hot coffee over me on one occasion when, unbeknown to me, I had one hanging off my hand!I like your way of getting over the phobia, a bit extreme though :-)CheersTony

  • Great interview, Tony! So glad you finally shared information about yourself. Cheers!

    • Thanks Mike, I really appreciate you leaving a comment. I was a bit reluctant about ‘interviewing’ myself but I did think it was only fair to do what I am asking all those interesting guests to do!

      Glad you enjoyed it.

  • Thanks for sharing a bit of your life with us Tony

    • It was a bit daunting answering those questions, it’s not easy as I thought and my respect has grown for those that have gone before :-)

  • I LOVE this Tony…great answers! Yeah, the Giant Panda’s got the life huh?! Feather…hmmm…thinking you might be an evolved creature or something. I don’t know…dinosaur > bird > human…hmmm. Ha ha! Well, one thing is for sure Tony…you’re wonderful and one of a kind! Kudos to you! XO

    • Thanks for your kind words Kathy, they are really appreciated :-)

That feather seems to have people thinking but it’s been many years since it appeared without a repeat performance. So maybe I don’t have head filled with feathers after all, although it would explain a lot!!

    • Ha Ha, glad you enjoyed it my friend! A Panda’s life looks good to me, I wouldn’t like to be ‘endangered’ though, that part is not so good.

Thanks for stopping by to leave your comment Bariq :-)
