Top 10 Excuses To Try Internet Explorer 9

I am delighted to bring you a guest post from Sridhar Ramanujam.  Sridhar Tweets and blogs about Technology, Social Media, Gadgets and a lot more and you can connect with him on Twitter @BeingSridhar and on FacebookBe sure to check out his excellent Geeky Tech Stuff blog by clicking on the image below.

If you are Windows user, these days you need excuses to use IE for a simple reason that there are much better alternatives to IE. But having said that  IE 9 introduces new power-packed features like streamlined interface, improved performance, Windows 7 integration, and lots more in its public beta and has induced us to try it.

So here are my Top 10 Excuses for you to try IE 9 =) :

1.Well first thing first if you go by the words of Geeks, here is one who casts his views,

“I’m a huge fan of IE9. I predicted many months ago that it was going to be a killer release for Web standards and that’s definitely happening.”

This is one statement you can’t ignore simply because the person who said these words is Asa Dotzler, community coordinator for many Mozilla projects and co-founder of ‘Spread Firefox’ online campaign, he said the above words on his blog here- http://weblogs.mozillazine.org/asa/

2.HTML5:

Biggest thumbs up yet for IE 9 comes from Worldwide Web Consortium’s HTML tests, it has topped in all HTML5 tests beating all browsers including Chrome and Firefox, so what it means for you? You will find no issues (mind you, some serious issues occur in Firefox) while loading HTML5 pages with its excellent support for HTML5  and faster page loading and very less response time.

3.Download Manager:

Finally a proper download manager for Internet Explorer. The manager looks similar to the Firefox download manager. It keeps track of downloads during the browsing session, with search options and actions right in the interface.  The notifications “The publisher of this program couldn’t be verified” may trouble some users though, as they are displayed quite frequently, even for programs that are widely known and popular.

4.Much Improved Tab Page:

Blank tab pages are so last century. Microsoft finally has added information to the new tab page. It displays the most popular sites that the user has visited in the past, as well as recently closed sites. There is also an option launch an InPrivate browsing session, and to hide the sites that are displayed on the new tab page. Good for work environments. Finally, it is possible to remove individual sites from the listing.

5.Design:

Major change becomes apparent on first start. The browser has a very minimalistic design.  The IE development team has basically removed all toolbars, except for the title bar and the address bar. Everything else has been hidden by default, or removed completely.  This means that most of the space can be used by websites to display their contents. While it may not make a huge difference on a 24 inch monitor, it can considerably improve the experience on netbooks and other systems with small screens.

6. Performance Boost:

Users will notice a major change in the web browser, and that is the big performance boost. The browser loads up nicely and displays websites fast, a lot faster than IE 8, and even more so when compared to previous Internet Explorer versions.IE 9 offers a great performance. Page loading times have improved a lot, in simple terms: This is the best browser from Microsoft so far.

7.Performance Advisor:

The performance advisor informs just how many micro-seconds slower your browsing experience could get by installing an add-on. And, if you wondered just how long a few micro-seconds could be, this is your chance to test it out.

8.Jump List:

Using the new ‘jump list’ option available with IE 9 users will be able to pin down the specific web apps on the taskbar and make it act as if it were a native app, to put it simple a web app runs even if the IE is not visibly active.

9.Ahead Of Our Favourite Browsers:

Some features and benchmarks set by IE 9 seem to be ahead of our favourite browsers and who knows you might make it your first choice browser after trying it.

10.Buzz:

You should try the browser for the buzz it has created if not for any reasons listed above, and only downside is that it runs only on Windows Vista and Windows 7 OS.

So I hope you found this post useful and I also hope that I gave you enough reasons to try out IE 9. Drop in your comments I would love to hear from you all.

Love the post, But IE9? No thank you! I better stick to my Rockmelt Beta. :D

Love this post but I cannot understand for the life of me why IE flat out refuses to include a spell check. I like IE9, a lot. In fact, on my new hard drive, I did not install any other browser other than IE9, so far. It works well but it should contain a spell check and it looks as if IE will make it to version 9 and still not have one.
How in the hell can we get through 9 iterations of IE and still no built in spell check? What will ultimately happen on my new drive is I will end up installing Google Chrome, and relegating IE as my backup.
Maybe I need to make a protest sign and carry it around Redmond.

I so agree with the Spell Checker I will switch to Firefox just for that reason I am using Firefox now to type this I am not a great speller so this feature really helps me as I am typing. If they are not putting it in 9 then I for sure will stop using IE and fire fox will be the one I use. you would think they would of been the first to put it in seeing everything runs around them.

If you use Windows XP and can’t install IE 9 (it is only for Win 7 users) you can still try Opera/Firefox or use online free spellchecker: http://www.spellchecker.net/spellcheck/
